In a significant development, Chief Judge Justice John Tsoho has mandated the reopening of the Benin-City division of the Federal High Court for proceedings. The decision comes after the court’s closure due to the imminent threat posed by floodwaters. Dr. Catherine Oby-Christopher, Assistant Director of Information in the Federal High Court, released a statement on behalf of the Chief Judge on Wednesday, providing details of the reopening.
According to the statement, the Benin-City Judicial Division of the Federal High Court has been relocated to a new venue within the High Court complex. The new location is situated opposite the Benin Correctional Centre on Sapele Road in Benin City, Edo State. With this relocation, both courts that comprise the Benin-City Judicial Division have resumed full sitting as of Monday.
