Founder of Oduduwa University Found Guilty of Timothy Adegoke’s Murder

In a significant development, the Osun State High Court has delivered its verdict in the murder case of Timothy Adegoke, finding Ramon Adedoyin, the founder of Oduduwa University and owner of the Hilton hotel, guilty of the crime.

Under the ruling of Judge Adepele Ojo, Adedoyin has been sentenced to death by hanging. The court determined that Adegoke, a postgraduate student from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), was murdered between November 5 and 7, 2021, at the Hilton Honours Hotel in Ile-Ife.

During the judgment, Judge Ojo emphasized that the circumstantial evidence presented to the court pointed to Adedoyin’s involvement in the killing. She highlighted that Adedoyin’s decision not to testify as a witness in his defense had shifted the burden of proof onto him.

Justice Ojo further stated that Adedoyin’s refusal to testify was interpreted as an agreement with the murder charge brought against him by the prosecution. The alibi presented by Adedoyin’s counsel, claiming that he was in Abuja during the time of Adegoke’s death, was dismissed by the court.
