Campus Shooting
On Sunday, near the Osun State College of Health Technology, Ilesa, three students were shot by suspected cultists while they were at a barber’s shop charging their mobile phones. The victims, consisting of one male and two females, sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, for treatment.
Suspected Cultist Involvement
Sources suggest that the shooting may be related to an ongoing fraternity war between rival cult groups in the area. Though the exact motive behind the shooting remains unclear, it is believed to be linked to the ongoing turf rivalry among the cultists.
Arrest of Suspected Cultists
Following the incident, four suspected cultists were arrested by the Anti-Cultism Unit of the State Police Command and members of Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service in Osogbo. The joint raid on the hideout led to the apprehension of the suspects, who were allegedly preparing for an attack. During the operation, one individual carrying a locally-fabricated gun was also arrested.
