Lagos Must Not Be Used as an Experiment,” Warns Pro-Nigeria Group Convener Omotola

According to Mr. Lai Omotola, the Convener of Pro-Nigeria Group, Lagos, as Nigeria’s economic hub, should not be used as an experiment. Omotola stressed the need for efficient leadership in Lagos, which plays a pivotal role in Nigeria’s economy.

The Convener of Pro-Nigeria Group, Mr. Lai Omotola, emphasized the importance of efficient leadership in Lagos State on Saturday. Lagos, being the nation’s economic hub and a major African financial center, plays pivotal roles in Nigeria’s economy, he said at a press conference in Lagos. Omotola noted that Lagos, as the backbone of Nigeria’s economy, can only be governed by tested technocrats and not by those who would want to use the state to experiment their administrative acumen.

Since 1999 when Nigeria commenced its democratic journey, Lagos has had four governors elected to lead the state, Omotola said. From Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Barrister Raji Fashola, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, and presently Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu, the position of Governor has been competitive, and on all occasions, the progressives have always come out victorious, he added.

Omotola, who is also the Managing Director of CFL Group, said that the gubernatorial and state assembly elections are coming up, and the electorate in the state must ensure that they vote for the best candidate. He stated that the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has demonstrated capacity.

In terms of development, Omotola said there are no abandoned projects in Lagos, and the reason for the state’s success is because the leadership has grown organically. This means that every government has been an insider and part of the developmental blueprint. “Never have we elected an outsider,” he said.

He added that there have been concerted efforts by mischief makers to derail the development path of Lagos state. They have provided minnows as alternatives to progressive government, and they are asking for a change of government not rooted in any genuine facts. However, under the leadership of Mr. Babajide Sanwwoolu, Lagos is working very well, Omotola said.

“Lagos is where entrepreneurs thrive, where entertainment has been shot to the global state. This is Lagos with the capacity to carry your dreams no matter how big there is space for everyone. The London and Dubai of Nigeria come and see the wonders of Lagos in our towers to iconic infrastructure. Lagos leads on all indices,” he added.
