The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed alarm over the alleged plot by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to undermine the presidency, trigger violence in the country, disrupt the 2023 general election and derail democracy.
The PDP highlighted Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s attempt to restrict President Buhari’s movement and the APC presidential campaign’s attempt to humiliate and harm the President while he was performing official duties in Kano.
The PDP also accused APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu of inciting violence, fueled by his entitlement mentality, and reminded Nigerians of Tinubu’s controversial statement in London. The PDP emphasized that Nigerians were determined to have a free, fair, and credible election, and expressed unwavering support for their presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
The APC has dismissed the PDP’s claims as fake news and a contrived, imaginary attack, calling for the security agencies to immediately arrest and interrogate the PDP spokesman over the supposed attack.
The APC emphasized that the security agencies are capable of foiling any planned attack on the president, and those caught in such a plot will have themselves to blame.
