The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, has been suspended by the Executive Committee of the party in Igyorov Ward of Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State. The suspension came as a result of a vote of no confidence passed on him for anti-party activities.

The Secretary of the party in Igyorov ward, Vanger Dooyum, while reading a resolution, accused Ayu and his allies of contributing to PDP’s loss in his ward and local government in the governorship election. The suspension, which took immediate effect, was endorsed by twelve out of the seventeen exco members who accused Ayu of not paying his annual dues as enshrined by the party’s constitution.

Furthermore, they alleged that Ayu did not vote during the governorship and state assembly elections held on the 18th of March, 2023. According to them, most of Ayu’s closest allies worked for the opposition All Progressive Congress (APC), which contributed to the poor performance of the PDP in Igyorov Ward.

In his defense, Ayu is yet to comment on the matter. However, his suspension has caused a stir within the PDP, as many party faithfuls have expressed their views on the issue.

Below is a copy of the letter issued by the ward exco:
