President Tinubu’s Call for Democracy’s Nurturing and Sustenance

President Bola Tinubu emphasized the crucial role of democracy in propelling Nigeria and the rest of Africa towards genuine progress and development. During a meeting at the State House in Abuja, he received leaders of the Senate, led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who came to congratulate him on his unexpected and unanimous election as Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government. President Tinubu stressed that democracy must thrive and sent a resounding message to the international community, particularly outside Africa, that Africa means business.

President Tinubu Acknowledges Additional Responsibility

Expressing gratitude for the vote of confidence by fellow West African leaders, President Tinubu regarded his election as Chairman as an unexpected call to service that demands increased dedication. He acknowledged that the position requires further hard work, stating, “With encouragement like this from you and other channels, the credit means more work.” President Tinubu pledged to fulfill his responsibilities despite the existing challenges, ensuring that Nigerians would not be let down.

Senate President’s Praise and Assurance of Support

Senate President Godswill Akpabio commended President Tinubu on his remarkable achievement during his first outing with the regional body. He highlighted the unanimous election as evidence of the high regard in which President Tinubu is held by his colleagues. Senator Akpabio conveyed the unwavering support of the Senate and the entire National Assembly, promising to assist the President in delivering on his mandate and realizing his vision for a more prosperous Nigeria.
