Nigeria’s Vice President Presides Over Second National Economic Council Meeting

The NEC, a constitutional economic advisory body, boasts an eminent lineup, including the 36 governors representing various states of the federation, ministers responsible for finance, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, Mele Kyari, among other distinguished members.

Prominent attendees who arrived early for the 11 am meeting include Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, Abdullahi Sule from Nasarawa State, and the deputy governor of Enugu State, Barrister Ifeanyi Ossai. The gathering also saw the presence of esteemed governors such as Inuwa Yahya from Gombe State, Dauda Lawan from Zamfara, Dikko Radda from Katsina, and Abdulrahman Abdulrazak from Kwara.

Among the governors in attendance were Dr. Alex Otti from Abia, Babajide Sanwo-Olu from Lagos, Senator Bala Mohammed from Bauchi, and Senator Uba Sani from Kaduna. Additionally, Governor Sheriff Obrevwori from Delta, Nasir Idris from Kebbi, Prof. Charles Soludo from Anambra, and Godwin Obaseki from Edo were also present.

Representing their respective states, Umaru Namadi from Jigawa, Mai Mala Bunu from Yobe, Duoye Diri from Bayelsa, Umo Eno from Akwa Ibom, and Prince Bassey Otu from Cross River were among the esteemed governors attending.

The meeting also enjoyed the presence of Dapo Abiodun from Ogun, Ahmad Aliu from Sokoto, Caleb Mutfwang from Plateau, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia from Benue, Senator Hope Uzodimma from Imo, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Acting Governor of Ondo State, and David Onoja, the Deputy Governor of Kogi State.
