65 Civil Servants Compete for Principal Positions in Nigeria’s Unity Schools

Competition for Principal Positions: As reported by The PUNCH, a total of 65 civil servants on the directorate cadre are vying for principal positions in some of Nigeria’s 110 unity schools. These schools include special institutions for gifted students spread across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Selection Process Initiated: The selection process for appointing new principals commenced on July 25, 2023, in Abuja. The candidates shortlisted for the positions will undergo a two-stage selection process, which involves a Computer Based Test (CBT) and an oral interview. The process aims to replace principals who have served for six years or more in line with the six years tenure policy approved in 2022.

Oral Interview Scheduled: The oral interview phase of the selection process is scheduled to take place between July 27 and 28, 2023. Previously, in 2022, around 334 civil servants participated in qualifying examinations for principal positions, with 112 candidates ultimately securing the positions after passing the CBT exams
