In a meeting held in Abuja on Sunday, the Accountant General of the Federation, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Madein, appealed to service providers responsible for the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) to address the persistent issues within the payroll platform.
Mrs. Madein emphasized the need for permanent solutions during discussions with the IPPIS service providers. The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) has taken the initiative to engage with the service providers and other stakeholders, aiming to resolve the challenges that have affected the smooth operations of the IPPIS.
As previously reported by the News Agency of Nigeria, technical glitches in the payment platforms were cited as the cause for the delay in the payment of June salaries for federal civil servants.
Mrs. Madein stated, “The OAGF is fully committed to building upon the achievements of the IPPIS and will work diligently to maintain an efficient and reliable payroll system for the country. We have acknowledged the challenges faced by the IPPIS and we are determined to not only address them promptly but also prevent future occurrences.” She reiterated the Federal Government’s unwavering dedication to the IPPIS, firmly stating that reverting to the analog payroll system is out of the question. She emphasized the importance of taking all necessary measures to move forward effectively.
Furthermore, Mrs. Madein stressed the significance of continuous interaction and collaboration among all stakeholders involved in the IPPIS. This call for cooperation aims to foster a conducive environment for resolving issues and improving the overall functioning of the system.
