Apple has announced plans to  launch artificial intelligence (AI) offerings to rival OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Bard.

Following the story from Bloomberg News on Wednesday, its stock rose as much as 2%, setting a new high.

The iPhone manufacturer is testing a chatbot that some programmers refer to as “Apple GPT” and has established its own framework known as “Ajax” to generate large language models (LLMs), according to the article.

The current AI initiative, according to a Bloomberg story, is being directed by Apple’s top software engineering executive Craig Federighi and the company’s head of machine learning and AI John Giannandrea.

Apple has so far refrained from making any significant AI-related steps and even avoided bringing up the buzzword during its developer conference in June.

This stands in stark contrast to other tech behemoths like Alphabet and Microsoft, who have taken calculated risks to implement the game-changing technology.
