Apple allegedly restricts use of ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, other AI-powered tools for staff

Tech giant company, Apple has alleged announced the restriction on the internal use of tools like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Microsoft-owned GitHub’s Copilot and other AI-powered tools.

Revered reporter Mark Gurman, disclosed the development on his official Twitter handle on Friday.

Kayefi understands that the development was in a bid to prevent any of its data from ending up with competitors.

“I believe ChatGPT has been banned/on the list of restricted software at Apple for months. Obviously the release of ChatGPT on iOS today again makes this relevant,” Gurman tweeted.

Recall that earlier this year, Samsung also forbade staff members from utilising generative AI tools like ChatGPT after allegedly documenting three distinct instances of them giving the chatbot with confidential corporate information.

Several other businesses, including the telecom behemoth Verizon and banks including Bank of America, Citi, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo, and JPMorgan, have also prohibited their personnel from using ChatGPT.
