Arrest of Lady Connected to Barber’s Death

The Rivers State Police Command has apprehended a woman in relation to the demise of a well-known barber named Otubong, whose lifeless body was discovered at his residence on Osina Street, Mile 2 Diobu, in the Port Harcourt region. The arrest came after the lady, aware of the police pursuit following her sudden departure from the scene where Otubong allegedly died during a sexual encounter, voluntarily turned herself in at the Azikiwe Police Division in Illabuchi, Port Harcourt.

Confirmation of Arrest and Ongoing Investigation

Grace Iringe-Koko, the State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the detainment of the woman and emphasized that the investigation was underway. As authorities delve into the circumstances surrounding Otubong’s death, the public eagerly awaits the outcome of the inquiry.

Plea for Fair Investigation and Avoiding Stigmatization

Afudoza Stephens, Vice Chairman of the Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign, appealed to the police to conduct a thorough investigation while ensuring that the woman is not subjected to stigmatization. Stressing that there is no law in Rivers State criminalizing consensual adult relationships, Stephens urged against hasty judgment. Only a discreet investigation, free from bias, can determine the woman’s potential involvement in the unfortunate incident. The rights campaigner called for her immediate release if the investigation establishes her innocence.
