BREAKING- Tragic Road Accidents Claim Lives and Leave Many Injured in Oyo State

Fatal Collision on Ogbomoso-Odo-Oba Road

A devastating crash between a commercial bus and a trailer unfolded on Sunday evening near Sekona, situated in the Ogo Oluwa Local Government Area. The collision claimed the lives of six individuals, all of whom were male adults, while 15 others suffered injuries of varying severity. Eyewitnesses reported that the accident occurred when the bus driver attempted to overtake the trailer at a sharp corner, losing control and leading to a horrifying somersault that occurred multiple times. Immediate response from road safety officials ensured that the injured were swiftly transported to Bowen University Teaching Hospital for medical treatment, while the deceased were taken to the Ladoke Akintola Teaching Hospital mortuary.

Tragic Incident on Ogbomoso-Ilorin Road

Adding to the sorrow, an Okada rider tragically lost his life on Monday morning near Gbede, close to Ote, in the Surulere Local Government Area. The rider collided with a stationary vehicle, resulting in a fatal accident. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that motorcyclists face on the road and emphasizes the importance of cautious driving for all road users.

Efforts by Road Safety Authorities

The Ogbomoso Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Isaac Adebayo, confirmed both accidents, providing valuable insights into the incidents. The road safety officials swiftly responded to the scenes of the accidents, carrying out rescue operations and ensuring the injured received immediate medical attention. Adebayo disclosed that five individuals died instantly at the first accident site, and another victim passed away in the hospital, bringing the total number of fatalities to six. Furthermore, he reported the unfortunate demise of the Okada rider in the second incident on the Ilorin road.
