Canada Implements Faster Visa Processing and Enhanced Support for Family Reunification

Here are the key details:

Accelerated Processing and Tailored Measures:

Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Sean Fraser, has announced that the Canadian government will prioritize processing TRV applications for families awaiting the finalization of their permanent residence status. Going forward, most of these applications will be processed within a speedy 30-day timeframe. Additionally, applicants will benefit from customized processing measures that consider their specific circumstances as spouses and dependents.

Successful Implementation and Family Reunification:

The implementation of these new tools and procedures has already yielded positive outcomes. According to Minister Fraser, the approval rate for applications processed under the new measures stands at an impressive 93%. The Canadian government emphasizes the significance of family reunification through immigration, viewing it as crucial to building inclusive and resilient communities.

Extended Work Permits for Spousal Applicants:

As part of the comprehensive support for families, the Canadian government offers an extended work permit option to spousal applicants and other open work permit holders. Those whose open work permits are set to expire between August 1 and the end of 2023 can extend their permits for an additional 18 months. This extension aims to provide newcomers with increased opportunities to secure employment and establish themselves in Canada.
