The seized items include a Lexus ES350 model car, a fabricated AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine loaded with seven rounds of ammunition, an SMG rifle, an SMG magazine with eight rounds of ammunition, a pack of illicit drugs referred to as “SK,” various charms, juju drums, and a charka musical instrument typically associated with shrines.
SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, the State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident, expressing deep sadness over the loss of the three officers and assuring the public that the injured officer was receiving medical attention at a hospital.
The investigations into both attacks are ongoing, and the authorities are determined to bring the culprits to justice. The recent wave of violence against law enforcement officers highlights the need for enhanced security measures and concerted efforts to maintain public safety in Ebonyi State.
- Violent Incident: In a tragic turn of events, three policemen were brutally killed by gunmen in Ebonyi State. The incident occurred at the Oshiri community in the Onicha Local Government Area of the state during a routine stop-and-search operation at approximately 8:30 am on Wednesday.
- Previous Attack: This attack comes just 24 hours after another violent incident in the Abakaliki metropolis, where hoodlums shot and killed a police inspector at the Union Bank Roundabout. Two other officers were also injured during that encounter, sustaining varying degrees of bullet wounds.
- Swift Police Response: Following the deadly attack in Oshiri, tactical teams were immediately deployed to the area in pursuit of the assailants. As a result, two suspected hoodlums were neutralized by the responding officers. Other criminals managed to escape, albeit with bullet wounds.
