Deadly Attack: Gunmen launched a devastating attack on Imande Mbakange and neighboring communities in the Mbacher Ward of Benue State’s Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, resulting in the death of at least 25 people. The assailants not only destroyed numerous houses and farmlands but also inflicted injuries on many survivors.
Early Morning Assault: The gunmen struck the communities around 4 a.m., catching the residents unaware while they were still in bed. The attackers fired shots to wake the people, causing panic and chaos. Those who were caught were mercilessly killed, while the assailants set houses and nearby farmland ablaze. The affected areas have turned into a war zone, forcing residents of neighboring communities to flee for their safety.
Pleas for Increased Security: The Chairman of Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, Mr. Alfred Atera, condemned the attack and called on security agencies to enhance their patrols in the affected communities to prevent further violence. He described the killings as inhumane and barbaric, urging security operatives to intensify surveillance and take urgent action to combat the escalating attacks. The chairman expressed condolences to the families of the victims and promised to support lawful measures to bring an end to the senseless killings.
