House of Representatives Supports Federal Government’s Decision to End Petrol Subsidy

Members of the House of Representatives have expressed their support for the federal government’s decision to terminate petrol subsidy during a plenary session held on Tuesday. The lawmakers commended the government for its courage and integrity in serving the nation of Nigeria.

 

Backing the Federal Government: The House of Representatives, in a display of solidarity, endorsed the decision of the federal government to put an end to petrol subsidy. The lawmakers applauded the government’s boldness and commitment to honesty and integrity in its service to the country. Urging Patience and Resilience: The House appealed to Nigerians to exercise patience, resilience, and maintain a prayerful disposition. The lawmakers emphasized the importance of allowing the President to fulfill his promises and deliver on the tasks ahead for the nation.

 

Tinubu’s Pronouncement: The resolutions made by the House stemmed from a motion of urgent national importance sponsored by Hon. Jimoh Olajide (APC, Lagos). Olajide highlighted that on May 29th, 2023, Tinubu publicly announced the removal of fuel subsidy. He praised Tinubu as a concerned senior citizen with an agenda to benefit the less privileged for the betterment of humanity. Olajide also pointed out that the removal of fuel subsidy had received legal backing from the current 9th Assembly and the past administration.

 

The House of Representatives’ support for the federal government’s decision to end petrol subsidy highlights their endorsement of the administration’s efforts to tackle economic challenges and fulfill its promises to the Nigerian people.
