In a historic moment, Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer on Tuesday. With a fadeaway jumpshot in the third quarter of a home game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, James set the new record of 38,388 points, overtaking Abdul-Jabbar’s previous mark of 38,387.

The sold-out crowd erupted in cheers as James’ shot found its way into the net, solidifying his place in NBA history. Abdul-Jabbar, who previously held the record, was in attendance at the game and sat courtside. Play was stopped to honor James’ achievement and allow him to address the fans, where he expressed his gratitude and humility.
