Meet Linda Yaccarino: The Ad Industry Veteran and New Twitter CEO

Twitter’s advertising revenue has taken a plunge, and Elon Musk has brought on board Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO to turn things around. Here are the key highlights about the incoming CEO:

A Veteran Advertising Chief

Linda Yaccarino, who was most recently the Chairperson of Global Advertising and Partnerships at NBCUniversal (NBCU), has spent a little less than 12 years at NBCU, where she modernized the advertising business and led the company’s advertising strategy across television and digital properties. She was also instrumental in the launch of the ad-supported streaming service Peacock in 2020.

A Two-Decade Career at Turner Entertainment

Before NBCU, Yaccarino spent about two decades at Turner Entertainment as the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President across advertising sales, marketing, and acquisitions divisions. Turner Entertainment operates CNN and is owned by Warner Bros Discovery.

Interview with Elon Musk

Yaccarino interviewed Elon Musk at an advertising conference in Miami last month, where she praised his work ethic and pressed him about advertisers’ concerns around negative content on Twitter.

Other notable achievements of Linda Yaccarino

Yaccarino is the Chairperson of the World Economic Forum’s Taskforce on Future of Work and sits on the WEF’s Media, Entertainment and Culture Industry Governors Steering Committee. In 2018, she was named by former U.S. President Donald Trump to the President’s Council on Sports Fitness and Nutrition.

Yaccarino’s impressive track record in the advertising industry and her experience in modernizing the advertising business at NBCUniversal make her the ideal candidate to steer Twitter’s advertising revenue back on track. The social media giant will undoubtedly benefit from her leadership and expertise in the advertising industry.
