On Friday in his visit to China, Bill Gate, co-founder of Microsoft Corp., is scheduled to meet with Xi Jinping, the Chinese president.
Sources privy to the development said that the top personalities would be discussing global health and development challenges.
It will be Xi’s first encounter with a foreign private businessperson in recent years.
In 2020, Gates resigned from the Microsoft board to concentrate on his charitable efforts in the areas of global health, education, and climate change.
In 2008, he left his full-time senior position at Microsoft.
When Xi and Gates last reportedly met, it was in 2015 during the Boao forum in the Chinese province of Hainan. Early in 2020, Xi thanked Gates and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in a letter for promising to help China, including $5 million for the nation’s fight against COVID-19.
