Microsoft Rolls Referral Program for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members

Microsoft has rolled out a new referral program for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members, allowing them to invite up to five friends to try PC Game Pass for free for 14 days. The offer is available on the Game Pass home screen and can only be sent to friends who are new to Game Pass.

The initiative comes as Redfall, the co-op vampire shooter, debuts on Xbox and PC today, and is aimed at boosting the growth of PC Game Pass, which the company has been focusing on recently.

Key Highlights:

  • The referral program enables Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members to invite up to five friends for free 14-day trials of PC Game Pass.
  • The offer is available on the Game Pass homescreen and is only available to be sent to friends who are new to Game Pass.
  • Microsoft has been concentrating on expanding PC Game Pass growth after slowing down on the console side of the service last year.

Microsoft has discontinued the $1 trial offers for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, and this friend referral program is likely its replacement. If a friend accepts the offer, they cannot use another introductory offer later, such as the promo cards that come with accessories.

In addition, the PC-specific offer comes less than a month after Microsoft expanded PC Game Pass to 40 new countries. PC Game Pass provides access to all of Microsoft’s own Xbox PC games, hundreds of third-party PC games, Bethesda PC titles, and an EA Play membership to try out new releases for up to 10 hours.
