Seizure of Loud Cannabis Consignments
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully intercepted two imported consignments of Loud, a potent strain of cannabis. The combined weight of the seized drugs amounted to 5,344.1 kilograms. The interceptions took place along the Epe-Lekki corridor and at Alfa Beach in the Lekki area of Lagos State.
Ambush and Escape
In the first interception, based on credible intelligence, NDLEA operatives laid an ambush for a white truck carrying 50 jumbo bags of illicit substances weighing 2,434.1 kilograms. The truck driver, however, managed to escape by jumping out of the vehicle and fleeing in a security Hilux van that was escorting the truck. Despite the escape, the anti-narcotics officers successfully immobilized the truck and confiscated the drug exhibits.
Marine Command’s Intervention
The second interception occurred near Alfa Beach in Lekki when officers from the Marine Command of the NDLEA acted on intelligence. They intercepted a boat loaded with the same imported substance, weighing 2,910 kilograms, upon its arrival from Ghana. Two Ghanaian nationals, Monday Saba (30) and Hakeem Kwana (27), who were found in possession of the consignments, were promptly arrested.
