Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla was born on December 20, 1968, in Enugu Ezike, Igbo Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State. From a young age, he exhibited a passion for the naval profession and set his sights on a career that would eventually lead him to the pinnacle of leadership in the Nigerian Navy.

Rear Admiral Ogalla’s educational journey began at the prestigious Nigerian Defense Academy (NDA), where he was a member of the 39 Regular Course. Graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, he earned the distinction of being awarded the Sword of Honour, a testament to his exceptional performance and dedication as the best naval cadet in his course.

Career Advancements and Specializations

With a solid foundation in mathematics and an unwavering commitment to his profession, Ogalla’s career in the Nigerian Navy witnessed steady growth and numerous accomplishments. After his commission as a Sub-Lieutenant on September 16, 1992, he continued to rise through the ranks, ultimately reaching the esteemed position of Rear Admiral on September 16, 2021.

Throughout his illustrious career, Rear Admiral Ogalla pursued specialized training and education to hone his skills and broaden his expertise. Notable among his achievements are the completion of the STC NNS QUORRA and Basic Hydrography National Hydrographic School in India. Additionally, he successfully undertook the Junior and Senior Staff Courses at AFCSC Jaji, further enhancing his knowledge and proficiency in naval operations.
