Operation Delta Safe Destroys Illegal Oil Refining Sites, Warns Criminal Elements

Operation Delta Safe takes action against illegal oil refining: Troops of Operation Delta Safe (OPDS) have successfully destroyed illegal oil refining sites in the Ibaa community of Emuoha Local Government Area, Rivers State. Rear Admiral Olusegun Ferreira, the Commander of OPDS, emphasized that this operation aligns with the military’s mandate to safeguard oil facilities and critical national infrastructure in the Niger Delta region.

 

Illegal refining sites deemed economic sabotage: Rear Admiral Ferreira emphasized that the operation targeted illegal refining sites, which he considers acts of economic sabotage. Operation Delta Safe, mandated by the Defence Headquarters, aims to deter criminal elements involved in these activities and protect the economic activities in the Niger Delta region.

 

Warning to criminals and call for alternative options: Rear Admiral Ferreira issued a stern warning to criminals engaged in pipeline vandalism and other unlawful activities, stressing that Operation Delta Safe will relentlessly pursue them. He urged the region’s youths to embrace alternative options provided by the government and refrain from criminal acts. While the military’s primary responsibility is kinetic operations, the government has also offered non-kinetic approaches for the youths to consider, encouraging them to abandon criminality.
