PDP and Adebutu Present 83 Witnesses in Ogun State Governorship Election Petition

Extensive Witness List

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu, have called upon a staggering 83 witnesses to testify in their petition challenging the victory of Governor Dapo Abiodun and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the 2023 governorship election in Ogun State.

Allegations of Irregularities

Adebutu and the PDP filed the petition, marked EPT/OG/GOV/03/2023, to contest Abiodun’s victory, citing alleged irregularities during the March 18 governorship election in the state.

Witness Testimonies

During the proceedings at the State Governorship Election Tribunal in Abeokuta, several witnesses presented their testimonies, with one witness, Festus Inioluwa, claiming that police officers at his polling unit fled when APC-affiliated thugs disrupted the election. The witness also concurred with the PDP’s claim that a significant number of voters, totaling 49,066, were disenfranchised during the election. However, the respondents’ lawyers objected to certain documents presented by the PDP’s subpoenaed witnesses, reserving their objections for their final addresses.
