Peter Obi’s Call for Addressing Incessant Killings: Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has emphasized the crucial role of building Nigeria’s economy and meaningfully engaging the country’s youth in curbing the recurring incidents of violence driven by ethnic and religious biases. His remarks come in response to alarming reports of violent and criminal activities that have deeply concerned Nigerians.

Concern over Violent Attacks in Plateau State: Obi expressed grave concern regarding the recent reports of violent attacks by gunmen in the Mangu council area of Plateau State, resulting in the loss of numerous lives, including women and children. He condemned these acts of killing, kidnapping, maiming, and terrorism, emphasizing the need for swift action by both the security agencies and the government to prevent the nation from descending into anarchy. Obi stressed the importance of treating human lives with the utmost sanctity and preventing senseless deaths.

Long-Term Solutions: Obi urged the security agencies to intensify their efforts in combating the insecurity plaguing the nation. However, he emphasized that sustainable solutions lie in building Nigeria’s economy and actively engaging the country’s youth population. By promoting economic growth and providing opportunities for productive endeavors, Obi believes the walls of ethnic and religious divisions can be dismantled, leading to a reduction in insecurity. He expressed heartfelt condolences to the families and people of Plateau State affected by the violence and called for unity among citizens to collectively build a new Nigeria where safety and prosperity are accessible to all.
