Progressive Governors Back Subsidy Removal: The Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), comprising governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has expressed its support for the federal government’s recent decision to remove subsidy on petroleum products. The governors, during a courtesy visit to President Bola Tinubu, affirmed their endorsement of this move, highlighting its importance in ensuring the sustainability of the country’s economy.

Concern Over Petrol Price Hike: While showing solidarity with the subsidy removal decision, the progressive governors voiced their concern regarding the sudden increase in petrol prices following the president’s inaugural speech. They emphasized the need for the government to address this issue promptly, recognizing the potential impact it may have on the livelihoods of Nigerians.

Chairman of PGF Calls for Public Support: Chairman of the PGF and governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, condemned the price hike on what he referred to as “old stock.” In addressing the media after the meeting with the President, he urged Nigerians to rally behind the government’s decision to remove the subsidy. Uzodinma stressed the importance of collective support and unity to overcome the challenges associated with the removal of the subsidy and ensure the country’s progress.
