Talks of Possible Alliance: Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and Osita Izunaso have engaged in separate discussions with former Zamfara governor, Abdulaziz Yari, regarding a potential alliance to counter Senator Godswill Akpabio’s endorsement for the position of the 10th Senate Presidency. Aggrieved aspirants interested in the role have begun creating tension among senators-elect by forming this alliance against Akpabio, who has received the backing of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) leadership.

Confirmation and Meeting Plans: Senator Orji Uzor Kalu confirmed his moves to engage in discussions, while a member of Osita Izunaso’s campaign team revealed off the record that a meeting between Yari and Izunaso would take place in Abuja today to solidify the alliance. This development has caused panic among senators in the camp of the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Akpabio.

Reconsideration and Calls for a Meeting: Unconfirmed reports suggest that President Bola Tinubu is reconsidering his support for Akpabio as the Senate President of the 10th National Assembly. As a result, senators, mainly from the South West, have called for a meeting on Friday to review their position and chart a new course regarding the Senate leadership. They are awaiting the outcome of a crucial meeting of senators-elect scheduled for today, which some of their members have been asked to attend.

The discussions between Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Osita Izunaso, and former governor Abdulaziz Yari are aimed at forming an alliance to challenge Senator Godswill Akpabio’s endorsement for the Senate Presidency. This development has led to tensions among senators-elect, prompting calls for meetings and a potential reevaluation of support for Akpabio’s candidacy.
