In a statement issued on Monday to commemorate Workers’ Day, President-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has pledged to provide Nigerian workers with a “living wage” that exceeds the minimum wage. Tinubu emphasized that he plans to offer workers a decent income to sustain their lives and support their families in the Nigeria he will lead from May 29th. Tinubu also highlighted the labor movement’s historical struggle for better working conditions and better wages for Nigerian workers, as well as their collaboration with nationalists and pro-democracy activists in the past.
