Preparing tool…

Reading and generation stay in your browser. Check the result before you share, print, or open a link.

Read a product barcode and see whether the last digit matches the GS1 arithmetic. This does not ask a product database and does not prove the number is yours.

Use it at the shelf before you reprint a label. If the printed digits and the scan disagree, trust neither until you scan a second copy.

How to use this tool

  1. Scan the product barcode.
  2. Read the number and the check result.
  3. Compare it with the digits under the bars.

Practical guidance

Use it at the shelf before you reprint a label. If the printed digits and the scan disagree, trust neither until you scan a second copy.

Checks before you use the output

UPC-A is 12 digits. EAN-13 is 13. EAN-8 is 8. A matching check digit is only arithmetic.
