Top ex-Google AI researchers raise $8 million funding to boost generative AI

Eight million dollars have been raised for the new business Essential AI by two well-known former Google engineers who wrote the seminal paper that launched the generative AI boom.

This was contained in a statement by the Kayefi team on Thursday.

Ashish Vaswani and Niki Parmar, the founders of Essential AI, had Thrive Capital lead the investment.

The business hasn’t released any products and is currently operating in secret.

Elad Gil, an angel investor and member of Conviction, also invested in the round, according to a source close to the business.

Following their departure from Adept AI, which they also co-founded in 2021 with former Google director David Luan, Vaswani and Parmar received a rise.

Adept has secured $415 million from investors, including General Catalyst, with the goal of training a neural network to carry out general tasks for enterprise clients.

According to sources, EssentialAI does not directly compete with Adept.
