United Kingdom Extends Congratulations to President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima on Inauguration

Warm congratulations from UK Government: The United Kingdom Government has conveyed its congratulations to Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima on their official inauguration as President and Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, respectively. The UK, emphasizing the strong bond as Commonwealth partners, expressed its desire to build an even stronger friendship between the two countries during President Tinubu’s tenure.

 

UK delegation at the inauguration: A delegation from the United Kingdom, led by The Rt Hon Helen Grant OBE MP, the Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Nigeria and Special Envoy on Girls’ Education, attended the inauguration ceremony in Abuja. The delegation also included Dr. Richard Montgomery CMG, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria. Their presence signifies the importance the UK places on its relationship with Nigeria and its commitment to cooperation and partnership.

 

Priorities of the UK delegation: Helen Grant OBE, in her role as the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy on Trade to Nigeria and Girls’ Education, emphasized the priority of strengthening the bilateral trade and investment partnership between the UK and Nigeria for the mutual benefit of both nations. She also expressed her dedication to ensuring quality education for every girl in Nigeria. Richard Montgomery, the British High Commissioner, stated the UK’s hope to collaborate with the new administration in promoting a more prosperous and resilient Nigeria, while enhancing cooperation on trade, development, and security.

 

By extending their warm wishes and reaffirming their commitment to partnership, the United Kingdom seeks to foster a stronger relationship with Nigeria under the leadership of President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima.
