The United States has announced a new security aid package for Ukraine worth $400 million. The aid package comprises various types of ammunition, including precision rocket systems, artillery pieces, Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles, and Armored Vehicle Launched Bridges. These supplies will aid Ukraine’s defense capabilities, as it continues to fend off attacks from Russia, which invaded in February 2022.
The United States has been at the forefront of the international coalition to support Ukraine, coordinating aid from dozens of countries. While Kyiv has requested some items, such as Patriot air defense systems and advanced heavy tanks, that have been eventually promised, other requests, such as Western fighter aircraft, have not been fulfilled.
Ukraine’s supporters are providing the country’s troops with training on new weapons, and US forces have launched a program focused on larger-scale maneuvers since January. This new security aid package is expected to bolster Ukraine’s defense capabilities and provide further assistance in its efforts to protect its sovereignty.
