YouTube on Thursday announced plans that YouTube Stories will be shutting down on June 26, 2023.
A spokesperson of the Google-owned video site confirmed this to the public.
The company claims it will be focusing on other key areas, like Shorts, Community posts, and live videos, in addition to its traditional long-form content.
Stories aren’t just being abandoned by YouTube. In the past, Netflix tested a feature on its mobile app called “Extras” that was similar to Stories and offered videos and images from popular episodes.
According to YouTube, creators will be informed of the shutdown via a variety of channels, including forum posts, in-app messaging, reminders in YouTube Studio, and more.
