Former President Obasanjo Criticizes Current Nigerian Leaders at National Daily Awards

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has expressed concern about the quality of leadership in the country, stating that Nigerians of the post-independence era made better choices of leaders than current generations. Speaking at the National Daily Awards ceremony in Lagos, Obasanjo noted that Nigeria’s political climate was similarly fraught with challenges then, but good leadership was always paramount.

Former President Obasanjo called for a rebirth of national ethos in the country, with leaders who demonstrated capacity, character and who led by example. Obasanjo cited peace, security, and stability as essential ingredients for the development and growth of any country.
