Political Tension Rises as Datti Baba-Ahmed Accuses Nasir El-Rufai of Treason

During a press conference in Abuja on Friday, Datti Baba-Ahmed, the vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), criticized the Governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai, for his comments on the naira redesign policy.

Baba-Ahmed described El-Rufai’s comments as treasonable and expressed concern about the silence of the presidency on the matter. He emphasized that the President is the only authority in Nigeria, and questioned how a sub-national official could counter the President’s directive.

El-Rufai had criticized the President’s directive to reintroduce only the old N200 banknote and claimed that the aim of the naira redesign policy was to scuttle the upcoming general elections in Nigeria.
