Justice J. K. Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a directive forbidding the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from taking any action to suspend or expel Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.
The order was made in response to an ex-parte motion filed by Governor Wike against the PDP, its National Working Committee (NWC), National Executive Committee (NEC), National Chairman of PDP, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, National Secretary of PDP, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The motion, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/139/2023, asked for an order maintaining the status quo and halting any actions related to the threat of suspension or expulsion by the respondents until the hearing and determination of the originating motion.

Governor Wike also requested an order allowing him to serve the motion and other court processes by substituted means, such as pasting them on the PDP National Secretariat, and deeming such service as proper.
The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the PDP to uphold the status quo in regards to Governor Wike’s membership, pending the outcome of the court proceedings.
